2024: APC inaugurates Ondo State National Gubernatorial Campaign Council

As Ondo State prepares for the November 16 Gubernatorial Election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, inaugurated 305 National Gubernatorial Campaign Council.

The inauguration ceremony held at the Dome had in attendance; Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, APC National and State leaders, members from both far and near among other eminent personalities.

The Ondo State National Campaign Council is chaired by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sawo-Olu, the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris as the Deputy Chairman 1, Governor of Cross Rivers State as the Deputy Chairman 2, Former Deputy Senate leader, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the Secretary.

In his address, the State Chairman of APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, expressed his confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s victory at the election, adding that the big trees behind the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has fallen and joined the winning team, APC.

The National Chairman of APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje said the National leadership of the APC will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to achieve an overwhelming victory in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.

The former Kano State Governor charged members of the committee to put all their efforts into the campaign to make the party’s victory a smooth one.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman of the campaign council, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the people of Ondo State will vote massively for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on November 16.

Sanwo-Olu said; “When I saw the compendium of all Governor Aiyedatiwa has been doing, he’s doing and intends to do, I was impressed. This shows that he’s the best man for the job and we are presenting the best for the people of Ondo State.

“If you look at the composition of the National Campaign Council, you will see that our party is serious about winning the election and on behalf of the Council, I want to promise that we will run an issue-based campaign and there will be a free, fair and credible election in Ondo State on November 16.”

The Director General of the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Committee and member of the House of Representatives, Hon Abiola Makinde, has said the APC is set for a landslide victory in the November 16 governorship election.

Makinde thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National leadership of the APC for their show of support for Governor Aiyedatiwa ahead of the election.

The lawmaker, who said the campaign of Governor Aiyedatiwa has been hugley successful so far, added that the quality of personalities in the national campaign council gives the Ondo State chapter of the APC confidence of a good showing in the election.

Responding, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa described the inauguration as a big boost, a huge addition to the winning resolve of APC. “We have no doubt that our strategies would be enhanced, our vitality, more vigorous and our bonding with voters, more decisive”.

The Governor noted that the successful journey of APC in Ondo State to this point is an open book adding that everyone who reads it knows it. “They know what power, our unity, cooperation and vision can unleash. Other political parties, even our arch opponents, now know what they lack but which we have in abundance. We have love, unity, respect, courage, vision and unwavering commitment to succeed. We have a heart that truly cares for the people and a resilient mind with a winning mentality”.

According to him, ” the journey did not start today. It started in 2017 with the vision and mission of our late leader and mentor, the former Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON. We are proud of his vision and that is why we are asking the people of Ondo State for a fresh mandate to do, even more”.

Highlighting his achievements in the last ten months, Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that his administration deliberately focused on Infrastructural Development, Public Utilities Renewal, Agricultural Production increment, Entrepreneurship and Youth Development, Job Creation and Security, construction of roads, prompt payment of salary and promotion of workers, among many others.

“We have focused on strengthening governance institutions through fiscal discipline, improved healthcare, access to quality education and responsible citizenship. We have shown commitment to social welfare to alleviate the sufferings of our people. We have deliberately created a stronger engagement with our women, too. We are concerned with leadership with integrity and character. We are not talking on our people, we are talking with them.

“I believe government is about the people. We are resolute and committed to that faith. We have worked hard for the heart of the people. We are talking to them house to house, door to door and mouth to ears. Above all, we are committed to a peaceful and credible election, where votes count.

The Governor appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his exemplary leadership, character and vision which is giving APC and Nigeria a clear evidence of Renewed Hope.

He also appreciated the National Chairman of APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the entire National Working Committee as well as other leaders of the party.

“We are grateful to the people of Ondo State for the exceptional show of love to our Party. They appreciate our commitment to make life more abundant, more meaningful, more rewarding and worth living for them. And we do not take their trust for granted. This is why throughout our campaigns in the cities, towns, villages, hamlets, door to door and face to face, we have listened carefully to the feedback from their lips to our ears. They are words of solidarity and confidence. Words which demonstrate the strong bond we share with our people and the love they have for a leadership that upholds their dignity”, he concluded.
