The Olurese of Irese, Oba Hamed Destiny Saka, Ajila III, has described as illegal and unconstitutional the proposed installation of Mr Ayodele Ojo Fadero as Olu of Ipamushara by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, Odundun II.
The monarch issued the warning while addressing journalists at his palace in Irese, Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, calling on the Deji to caution his palace agents against encroaching on Irese land.
Oba Saka stated that throughout the history of Irese community, there has never been a traditional position known as Olu of Ipamushara.
He explained that Ipamushara is merely a location within Irese, situated opposite his palace, and does not constitute a separate community warranting its own traditional ruler.
The traditional ruler said he became aware of the planned installation when an invitation card for the ceremony began circulating within Irese town.
He expressed surprise that the Deji of Akure could initiate such an installation without proper consultation.
“I strongly oppose this installation because there has never been a traditional rulership position called Olu of Ipamushara in Irese land. Ipamushara is located in the community but has never constituted a distinct community with its own traditional ruler,” Oba Saka declared.
He argued that the proposed installation violates historical and administrative boundaries, noting that Irese falls under Ifedore Local Government Area and not Akure South, which is under the Deji’s jurisdiction.
The Olurese claimed that the Deji of Akure was reportedly unaware of the installation plans until he brought it to the monarch’s attention.
Oba Saka assured members of his community that appropriate authorities have been notified, including security agencies, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ondo State, and the Chairman of Ifedore Local Government Council.
He cautioned those using the Deji’s name to mislead the public and potentially cause a breach of peace in the state, urging them to desist from such actions.
A police squad from the office of the Ondo State Commissioner of Police has visited the community and inspected the area under the guidance of Oba Saka.
According to reports, all parties involved have been summoned to appear on Monday for resolution of the dispute.
The Olurese urged residents of his domain to remain calm as the matter is being addressed through appropriate channels.
