Nkem Olusola-Oke Commends Ondo First Lady’s Strides for Girls

As the world marks the International Day of the Girl Child across the globe, girl children have been described as jewels that deserves the best from all.

This stance was given by Chief Nkem Olusola-Oke, wife of the Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Alexander Olusola-Oke, SAN, in a statement she personally released in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.

The statement reads, in part: “As the child child is being celebrated globally, we must remind ourselves as parents, guardian, private and public institutions that the girl child is in every way special and that she deserves the very best.

“We are happy with what the First Lady of Ondo State, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has been doing in favour of girl children in the state through the Bemore Empowered Girls’Foundation. As individuals, family or government, we must all do our bits to ensure that girl children get the best and are given the right encouragement to soar.”

The International Day of the Girl (IDG) is observed annually on 11 October as a global event for advocating for the full spectrum of girls’ rights.

The theme of the 2023 International Day of the Girl Child, according to UNICEF, is: “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being.”; it focuses on taking actions toward enhancing girls and women’s rights and gain progress on gender equality.
