Ondo govt committed to creating enabling environment for entrepreneurs to thrive – Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has emphasised the State Government’s commitment to create an enabling environment for entrepreneurs to thrive, invent initiatives that make entrepreneurship attractive and promote competition that would enhance creativity.

The Governor made this emphasis on Wednesday at the winners announcement and prize giving of ONDEA my Idea 2. 0, held at the Dome, Akure.

Governor Aiyedatiwa stressed that the State Government would also ensure that the youths have access to the tools, resources and mentorship they need to succeed in this fast-evolving, technology-driven world.

He opined that Ondo State recognises the power of entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity and technology to transform not only the economy but also the lives of the people, adding that he has always been deeply committed to developing human capital, particularly for the young entrepreneurs and youths.

“This business pitching competition is an evidence of my firm belief that our young people are capable of generating groundbreaking ideas that would shape the future of this State and, by extension, our country. Entrepreneurship is not just about business, it is about creating solutions, driving progress and fostering resilience in the face of challenges”.

Speaking on the fast approaching Global Entrepreneurship Festival, the Governor expressed his excitement and anticipation, stressing that the global event would bring together innovators, business leaders and entrepreneurs from all over the world. “It would serve as a platform to showcase our State’s investment opportunities, talents, potential and capabilities, while fostering new ideas and international collaborations that will lead to economic growth.

“We are very intentional about bringing traffic to Ondo State and creating innovative activities in the State that would boost the businesses of our local entrepreneurs, ultimately eradicating poverty and improving the standard of living of our dear citizens.

“To all the participants in this competition, irrespective of the result and outcome of the winners today, your ideas have the potential to be the foundation of something much greater. You are the future of this State and we are here to support you every step of the way”.

The Governor appreciated the ONDEA team and its leadership for their dedication, professionalism and hard work.

“The end has come for the narrative of Ondo State being a Civil Service State. In my time as Governor of this State, as I renew my mandate come November, by the Grace of God, Ondo State will be known as the capital for entrepreneurship, innovation and technology, thereby allowing our youths to shine brightly in the Sunshine State”, he concluded.

Earlier in his opening remarks, The Head of Operations, Ondo State Entrepreneurship Agency ( ONDEA) Mr Gbenga Adebambo appreciated the Governor for his passion for entrepreneurship and his commitment to youth development.

He noted that the 20 winners were picked across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

He added that the management of ONDEA are working hard towards put Ondo State on the fore front of innovation and entrepreneurship globally stressing that the celebration is evident of the fact that there are talents in Ondo State.

“As we embark on this Journey, let us explore from our story of success and perseverance. Expressed his confidence that Ondo State is ready to became the talent hub of the Nigeria”.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Entrepreneurship, Mr Summy Smart Francis commended the governor’s deep sense of empathy towards the grassroots, stating that it has significantly fostered the growth of entrepreneurship across Ondo State. He noted that the governor’s inclusive approach ensures that no community is overlooked, making it easier for aspiring entrepreneurs, even in the most remote areas, to thrive.

Smart also highlighted the governor’s unwavering commitment to youth development, emphasizing that prioritizing their welfare has been a cornerstone of his administration’s efforts.

Each of the winners who N1m cash and N2m equipment appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa and the management of ONDEA for the opportunity given to them, promising to do more.

In attendance were: The Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip, Commisoner for information, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, Commisoner for Energy and Mineral resources, Commissioner for Commerce, industry and cooperative services, Pastor Segun Ayerin, among other eminent personalities.
