PTA Condemns Parents’ Attack on School Principal

The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of St. Louis Girls Grammar School, Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has condemned the attack on the school’s principal. This followed allegations from some parents accusing the school of unjustly denying their children admission.

Speaking with journalists at the school, PTA member Mr. Mike Adekunle, a retired principal in Ondo State, expressed strong disapproval of the attack and refuted the claims made by anonymous parents. According to the parents, their children were unjustly excluded from the school’s admission list.

Mr. Adekunle clarified that the allegations were based on misinformation and stressed that the principal strictly followed the Ondo State Government’s guidelines for admitting new students. He explained that while some schools with more resources can accommodate additional students, St. Louis Grammar School faces limitations in its infrastructure, as there has been no recent expansion funded by the PTA or the Old Students Association.

He further elaborated on the admission process, noting that priority is given to students who make the merit list. “We give first consideration to those on the merit list, as is standard in any reputable institution. Unfortunately, some parents, unaware of the process, made payments ahead of confirmation. The school has assured them that any payment made will be refunded if their children do not secure admission.”

Addressing allegations that the principal colluded with a local tailor and locker vendors, Mr. Adekunle dismissed the claims as baseless attempts to tarnish her reputation. He called for a public apology from those responsible for spreading the false accusations.

“The principal has an impeccable record, having served with distinction in several schools across Ondo State before her current post at St. Louis Grammar School. Her track record speaks for itself,” Mr. Adekunle said.

He urged parents to approach situations like this with maturity and patience, rather than resorting to false accusations.

Following the outcry, the parents who initially made the unsubstantiated claims against the principal have issued an unreserved apology. They admitted to making hasty assumptions without verifying the facts, which led to unnecessary public outcry. In their apology, they expressed regret for any harm caused to the principal’s reputation and acknowledged that the admission process adhered fully to government regulations.

The parents extended their apology to the principal and the school administration, recognizing the professionalism and dedication with which the school has been managed. They also urged the public to disregard the initial reports and accept their sincere apology for the misunderstanding.

The principal, known for her unblemished record of service across several schools in Ondo State, continues to prioritize the academic and moral development of students at St. Louis Grammar School.
