BRECAN Partners Redeemer’s University on Cancer Campaign

In furthering awareness creation on cancer disease in Nigeria, the country’s notable cancer- fighting institution, the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN), has partnered the Redeemer’s University (RUN), Ede, Osun State, Nigeria, to educate the public on the nature, variants, behaviours and antidotes to the disease.

RUN, last Wednesday, played host to the National Executives of BRECAN, led by its President, Ambassador Tolu Taiwo, who, at the university’s instance, presented a lecture on breast, cervical and prostate cancers as part of a capacity building initiative organised by the University for student leaders and members of staff.

Held at the University’s Senate Chamber, the programme tagged “Healthcare and Security as Important Aspects of Community welfare” was well attended by management team, members of staff and students.

BRECAN’s Chief Operating Officer, Promise Ihezie, who in his presentation, introduced the organisation’s vision, mission as well as its feats and programmes to the audience, stressed the need for sustained action against cancer in Nigeria.

The University Vice Chancellor, Professor S.O Akindele, who warmly received the BRECAN team to his office, described Redeemers University as a frontline institution that is focused on research and innovation.

On the BRECAN team were Ambassador Tolu Taiwo, its National President, Promise Ihezie, the COO, and the Programmes officer, Amarachi Obiji.
