The leadership of the Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, at the Federal Ministry of Defence, Abuja, reaffirming its commitment to national security and grassroots mobilisation.
The delegation, led by the Deputy National Chairman of the movement, Hon. Dr. Agbi Stephen Omobamidele, included Hon. Khalid Chukwuma, Assistant National Vice Chairman; Hon. Tope Sanya, National Organising Secretary; Alhaja Karimot Amope Akinpelu, Deputy National Vice Chairman (South-West); and Olufowobi Olarewaju Desmond, National Director of Media.
According to the group, the visit formed part of its ongoing institutional engagement with key national stakeholders, aimed at strengthening collaboration between community-based political structures and security institutions.
Speaking during the meeting, Omobamidele said the initiative was designed to bridge what he described as the gap between citizens and security agencies, particularly in the areas of misinformation and public distrust.
He noted that while the Armed Forces continue to confront security challenges across the country, enhanced grassroots communication and public engagement are necessary to reinforce confidence and unity.
The delegation also congratulated the Defence Minister on his appointment, describing it as timely in view of prevailing security concerns. During the visit, Musa was presented as a patron of the movement in recognition of his service to the nation.
In his remarks, the National Organising Secretary, Tope Sanya, outlined the group’s mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections. He said the movement was committed to galvanising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a target of delivering 10 million votes through its network of over 1.2 million members nationwide.
Omobamidele reiterated the group’s backing for the Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that security and stability remain critical to economic development and national prosperity.
The National Director of Media, Olufowobi Olarewaju Desmond, called on Nigerians to play active roles in promoting unity and responsible information sharing, noting that national security requires collective effort beyond government institutions.
He urged citizens to remain law-abiding and support reforms aimed at strengthening public institutions.
The visit ended with both parties expressing readiness to sustain collaboration in pursuit of improved security outcomes and deeper grassroots engagement ahead of 2027.
