Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to consolidate the achievements of past administrations while pursuing a bold and inclusive development agenda as the state marks its 50th anniversary.
The Governor made this commitment in a statewide broadcast to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the creation of Ondo State.
Describing the anniversary as more than a celebration of time, Aiyedatiwa said the Golden Jubilee represents a moment of reflection and renewed responsibility to consciously build a prosperous future for generations yet unborn.
He noted that the creation of Ondo State on February 3, 1976 laid a durable foundation for participatory governance, identity and people-centred development.
The Governor highlighted the steady progress recorded by the state over the past five decades, particularly in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, industrialisation and public service reform.
According to him, despite periods of military rule, democratic transitions and economic challenges, Ondo State has continued to expand commerce, strengthen institutions and harness its vast human and natural resources for development.
Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security, investing in critical infrastructure, revitalising agriculture, expanding access to healthcare, empowering youths and women, and creating an enabling environment for enterprise and innovation.
He stressed that these priorities are aimed at ensuring broad-based growth that leaves no segment of society behind.
Calling for unity and collective effort, the Governor urged citizens and residents, irrespective of political affiliation, to support the government’s development agenda.
He emphasized that the next fifty years require discipline, innovation and shared responsibility to build a productive, inclusive and globally competitive Sunshine State that truly works for all.
