  1. AKURE-SOUTH CLEARS WATERWAYS TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF FLOODING.

On the 12th of July 2024, The Transition Chairman of the Akure-South Local Government, Hon. Fasua Gbenga, in conjunction with the State Government, initiated the clearing and expansion of the waterways, aimed at reducing the impact of flooding in the community and Akure at large.

  1. AKURE-SOUTH LG HOSTED STAKEHOLDERS MEETING WITH OVER 400 COMMUNITY CHAIRMEN AND SECRETARIES.

On the 31st of July 2024, The Transition Chairman of Akure-South Local Government, Hon. Dr. Gbenga Fasua, hosted an influential stakeholders’ meeting with community Chairmen at the Secretariat hall. This meeting, attended by over 400 community Chairmen from across Akure-South, marked a significant milestone. Chairman Fasua strongly emphasized that such meetings will become a regular occurrence to foster unity and development.

During the meeting, Hon. Fasua elaborated on four major areas in which the government is actively working to enhance the lives of the people. These areas include security, road infrastructure projects, the establishment of the Akure-South Local Government Market, and environmental cleanliness.

  1. AKURE-SOUTH OFFERS FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH

On the 5th of August, The Transition Chairman of Akure-South, Hon. Dr. Gbenga Fasua offers free medical outreach for the people of Akure-South across Six designated centres across the Local government.

  1. AKURE-SOUTH LG, BEGINS OPERATION KEEP AKURE CLEAN AND SAFE INITIATIVE.

The Akure-South Transition Committee led by Chairman Hon. Gbenga-Donald d moved around the Akure metropolis to enforce the “Keep Akure Clean and Safe” initiatives in line with the governor’s directive to ensure Akure is reinstated among the best state capital in Nigeria.

The team was accompanied by the head of the task force in the Ministry of Special Duties, Mr Major, to clear the Oba Adesida road of gridlock. The team visited Old Garage, Isolo Junction, Oja Oshodi, the Post office, and Texaco.

  1. AKURE-SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH TEHUB AFRICA FOR IT FUNDAMENTALS TRAINING OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT STAFF.

On the 15th of August 2024, Hon. Dr. Gbenga Fasua, the transition chairman of Akure-South Local Government, in a significant move towards enhancing digital literacy and capacity building, the Akure-South Local Government partners with TEHUB Africa to train 20 council’s confidential Secretaries in IT fundamentals in the first phase of his staff training. This initiative is part of a broader effort of the Chairman to equip the local government employees with essential digital skills, ensuring they are better prepared to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

The initiative is a step towards digital literacy and also a testament to the growing recognition of the importance of technology in public administration. By equipping government staff with essential IT skills, Akure South Local Government is laying the foundation for more efficient and responsive governance.

  1. OPERATION AKURE-SOUTH LG FEDS AKURE

On, 28th of August 2024, The Akure-South Transition Committee, led by Chairman Hon. Dr. Gbenga Fasua, along with Vice Chairman Hon. Ayodele Adebayo, Secretary Hon. Mrs. Margaret Gbadamosi, and other committee members, harvested and initiate the sell of tomatoes cultivated by the Agricultural and Natural department of the Local government. This initiative is a testament to the local government’s commitment to promoting agricultural development.

During the event, Chairman Fasua expressed gratitude to the local government’s agricultural and Natural department for the successful implementation of this commendable project. He assured the department of continued support for the expansion of the project, aiming to benefit all residents of the local council.

  1. AKURE-SOUTH LG SUPPORTS EDUCATION THROUGH FREE HOLIDAY LESSONS FOR BOTH JUNIORS AND SECONDARY STUDENTS IN AKURE-SOUTH.

On the 30th of August 2024, The Transition Chairman Akure South Hon, Dr Fasua Gbenga- Donald demonstrated unwavering dedication to education and community development by sponsoring free holiday lessons for secondary school pupils in Akure-South. This praiseworthy initiative aims to provide vital academic support and enrichment opportunities for students during the holiday period.

The program, organized by the National Association of Akure Students (NOAS) National body, offers a comprehensive curriculum covering various subjects, taught by experienced teachers and facilitators who provide personalized attention and mentorship to the students.

  1. AKURE-SOUTH ON THE MAP GAIN

On the 3rd of September 2024, The Transition Chairman, Hon. Dr Gbenga Fasua, in collaboration with TEHUB AFRICA begins the mapping of Akure-South Local Government for easy access.

  1. AKURE-SOUTH LG, TO PARTNER WITH DIVERSE FARMER’S ASSOCIATIONS TO ENHANCE THE “AKURE-SOUTH FEEDS AKURE” INITIATIVE.

On the 6th of September 2024, The Transition Chairman, Hon. Dr. Gbenga Fasua, held a meeting with The Pastor Farmers Association, Akure chapter. The association, led by the Chairman of the Akure chapter, Bishop Abidakun, expressed strong commendation for the council chairman’s proactive stance on agriculture.

He underscored the council’s readiness to collaborate with various farmer’s associations to expand the “Akure-South Feeds Akure” initiative, aimed at boosting food production for the benefit of the local government and the entire state. He pledged to supply essential farm implements and fertilizers and emphasized that ensuring the security of farming communities is of utmost importance.

  1. AKURE-SOUTH PARTNERS ITF TO TRAIN OVER 20,000 ARTISANS.

The Chairman of the Transition Committee of Akure South local government, Hon. Dr. Gbenga Fasua, patterns ITF to train 20,000 artisans in a program tagged The “Skill Up Artisans Programme” for eight weeks.

Hon. Fasua charged the artisans to leverage the opportunity, which he said would lead to adequate training as well as certification.

The Area Manager of Industrial Training Fund, Rahufu Suleman said the training is crucial for Nigeria’s sustainable economic development and technological advancement.
