The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller Dauda Ibrahim Chana, has announced significant accomplishments in revenue collection and anti-smuggling operations for the year. The command achieved a total revenue of ₦102,503,573,383.31, representing a remarkable 94% increase compared to 2024.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, CSC Saidu Nuruddeen, Comptroller Chana attributed the success to strategic policies, enhanced enforcement mechanisms, and the application of advanced technology. He noted that these measures have strengthened border security, prevented illicit activities, and ensured a seamless revenue collection process.

The command also reported notable seizures during its intensified anti-smuggling operations, including foreign parboiled rice, spaghetti, macaroni, non-dairy creamer milk, kola nuts, second-hand clothing, and pharmaceuticals. In addition, significant quantities of cannabis, Tramadol, pangolin scales, and used tires were intercepted, with the drugs and wildlife products handed over to relevant agencies like the NDLEA and NAFDAC.

These enforcement efforts have been complemented by robust stakeholder engagement, fostering collaboration with local communities, market associations, terminal operators, and sister security agencies. This has helped in promoting trade facilitation, enhancing compliance, and addressing security challenges across the region.

Comptroller Chana expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for his support and guidance. He also appreciated the contributions of sister security agencies and critical stakeholders in achieving these milestones.

“The Kano/Jigawa Area Command remains committed to its core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and border security. We will continue to pursue excellence, contributing to the nation’s economic growth and development,” Chana stated.

The command reiterated its resolve to sustain these achievements while upholding professionalism, transparency, and collaboration in its operations.
