NAGAFF Tincan Chairman Urges Resilience

The Chairman of the Tincan Island Port chapter of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Dr. Emeka Paul Chiedozie, has encouraged members of the association to remain steadfast despite the challenges in the maritime sector.

Speaking to Trace News Magazine in a telephone interview, Dr. Chiedozie reflected on the difficulties of 2024 but expressed optimism for a better 2025.

“2024 was indeed very challenging, but I give God Almighty all the glory. I am fully confident that 2025 will be better,” he stated.

He attributed the drop in goods importation to global economic conditions, compounded by the federal government’s monetary and fiscal policies.

Dr. Chiedozie praised the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi Adewale MFR, for his efforts in boosting trade and enhancing the working conditions of Customs officers. “The officers now work with high-standard equipment in excellent environments,” he noted.

A veteran with over a decade of experience in the maritime sector, Dr. Chiedozie—also the MD/CEO of Seagold Maritime Services and Treasure Gardens Hotel and Suites—commended various authorities and shipping companies for their cooperation.

However, he called out shipping companies for imposing arbitrary charges on freight forwarders, while criticizing the Nigerian Shippers Council for their insufficient response to the issue. “Even though they milk our pockets, we are still grateful to God,” he remarked.

Dr. Chiedozie concluded by urging members to remain resilient and hopeful for a brighter future in 2025.
