NAGAFF Vice Chairman Appeals To FG Fix Exchange Annually

By: Joy Enamuna

The Vice Chairman of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Airport Chapter, Alhaji Sulaimon fatai Ayomide has made a passionate appeal to the Federal Government to consider fixing the exchange rate of dollar annually rather than allowing it to fluctuate.

Speaking to Lagos Trace News Magazine today at the NAGAFF Secretariat in Murtala Muhammed Area Command, Ikeja, Lagos, Fwdr. Ayomide recommended that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, the Minister of Finance and the Acting Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi should work towards fixing the dollar rate annually.

Alhaji Ayomide also suggests to the FG how the volume of Cargoes which has dropped to 10% can bounce back,” If the Federal Government fixes this rate annually, most of our importers that have left Nigeria will start coming back gradually, because they can then plan their businesses with the fixed rate and pay back what they borrowed from the banks”.

In the same vein the freight forwarder congratulates the Acting Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi for his appointment. He Said “When Adeniyi was the Customs Area Controller of the Murtala Muhammed Area Command and during one of our courtesy visits the NAGAFF airport chapter executive members prayed for him and told him that before he retires that he would be appointed the CGC”.

“Now that it has come to pass I will advise that whenever anyone is praying for you that you should please never take it for granted, just be saying Amen because you may never can tell when that prayer might manifest”. He prays that God Almighty gives the CAC the grace to execute all the projects he has planned to move the Nigerian Customs forward with.
