ODHA charges MDAs on due diligence

……… clears Akure South audit query

Ondo State House of Assembly has recommended the clearance of an audit query of 2014 of Akure South Local government.

Chairman House committee on Public Account, Mr. Olatunji Ifabiyi recommended the clearance when he led other members on an on the spot assessment of Iwoye Basic Health Maternity centre, Akure.

He expressed satisfaction with what they met on ground as the project has been completed.

Ifabiyi charged Ministries, Departments and Agencies,MDAs to always ensure due diligence ,by backing up every query with vouchers to clear pending issues.

According to him, all of these projects did not emanate from the present management, but in governance, asset and liability are what are usually inherited. Hence, based on that, the management has to be up and doing to close the audit query.

He however, expressed displeasure over the absence of the Chairman, transition Committee but said since the Head of Local Administration has done the needful by presenting relevant documents, the house of Assembly will close up the query.

The Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Modupe Omoloja, thanked the Committee for taking their time to inspect the project.

She explained that the issue has lingered for long , expressing delight that after seeing the vouchers and project by themselves, they finally recommended clearance of the query .

The HOLGA assured that available resources will be adequately utilised for the development of the local government.
