Ondo 2024: Grassroots stakeholders strategise for APC victory on Nov.16 poll

Grassroots stakeholders in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday charted strategies for victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state come Nov.16 governorship poll.

The Convener of the meeting, the Special Adviser (SA) on Health Matters to Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Prof. Sinmidele Odimayo, said in Irele that he convened the meeting to keep the party’s members abreast of the programmes and policies of the Aiyedatiwa-led government.

Odimayo said that the governor had interest to ensure that the state was properly governed, hence the need to carry people along, adding that it was a time renewal of the party’s activities.

“We organized this meeting to let our people know that the governor has taken people at a high esteem in making sure that the state is properly governed and that people are well taken care of.

“His welfarism activities to be sure that our people have a good life. So, we have come to talk to our people so that our people can reciprocate by supporting the government in various laudable programmes for a progressive state.

“This government made a good distribution strategy for palliatives given by the Federal Government and ensure they were utilized

“He has tried his best that meaningful life is impacted in this local government area. Our people have got the message and they have decided to support the governor for his victory in the coming election.,” he stated.

According to him, the meeting was entirely the party’s structure cutting across the local government area.

The Chairman of APC in the local government area of the state, Elder Zechariah Omoge, explained that governorship primary of the party had come and gone, hence the need to come together as one indivisible family.

Omoge added that the forthcoming Nov.16 election must be for the victory of the party, stating that reconciliation had been carried out in all ward levels.

According to him, all support groups for individual aspirants before the party’s governorship primary of the party have collapsed their structures for victory of the party.

The party’s chairman asked the party’s members to keep their voter cards, saying that such qualified them to vote

He asked executives of the party at ward level to organize regular meetings for all the party’s members including all stakeholders, saying that there would be more dividends of democracy.

Also speaking,Elder Shadrak Olowojuni, a leader of APC, hammered on the unity, asking members and supporters of the party to shun parallel meeting in any form.

Olowojuni asked those that might be aggrieved to bear their grievances and toe the path of resolution for the party’s victory.

The Women Leader of APC in Irele Local Government Area, Chief Titi Omosowo, expressed the need for women engagement considering their larger voting strength.

In his remarks, Mr Daisi Akinrodoye, the Vice Chairman of the Transition Committee in Irele Local Government Area of the state, commended the convener of the party for putting life to activities of the party in the area.

Akinrodoye asked the leadership of the party at the state level to put in more efforts in ensuring that there was no division in the party.

He asked the leadership to come up with mechanism that would allow dividends of democracy to get to the grassroots.

According to him, there should more engagements of youths and students in activities of the party.

Also, the APC woman leader of the party in the local government area, Mrs Titi Omosowo, said that the meeting was commendable, stating that the party in the local government area seemed to be too cold.

Omosowo asked the party leadership at the state level to cater more for the women folks in the party, adding that women had greater population.

She described the party’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming election as a man of excellence that would not disappoint the state.

Also speaking, retired Major- General Florence Akingboju said there was a need to support the Convener of the meeting and the party’s Governorship candidate.

Comrade Sunday Omojuwa, youth leader in the local government area, asked for unity of purpose, saying that a united party would win the forthcoming poll.
