Ondo 2024: Igbos in Ondo State drum support for Aiyedatiwa

As the gubernatorial election in Ondo State draws near, Igbos across the State have declared their total support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Leading the Igbo indigenes across the State to the Governor’s office on Wednesday, the Eze Ndigbo, Ondo State and President General, Association of Ndieze Ndigbo in Diaspora, Ambassador Gregory Iloehika stated that have come together and decided to declare their support for the Governor.

He appreciated the Governor for appointing Hon. Francis Belonwu, Hon. Barr. Isaiah Igwe and Hon. Uche Okafor as Special Assistants on Igbo affairs in the three Senatorial Districts.

He noted that the Governor has demonstrated love to the Igbos in the State and also, exhibited a strong character sustainability, unshakeable resilience and rugged determination to move the Ondo State to greater and enviable heights, even in the face of daunting and mountainous challenges ahead.

He commended the Governor for his achievements and all he has done within the time he assumed duty as the Governor of the Ondo State, urging him to keep the flag flying.

He reassured the Governor that all the Igbos in Ondo State are solidly behind him and he will surely emerge victoriously come November 16 gubernatorial election.

In his welcome address, Muyiwa Ogunyemi, SSA on Community Integration to the governor, stated that the Igbo community had gathered to express their gratitude to the governor for his commendable work in the state. He also announced their endorsement of the governor for a continued term beyond 2024.

In his reaction, Governor Aiyedatiwa appreciated the the Igbos, led By Eze Gregory for mobilizing themselves to support him.

He appreciated them for contributing to the economy of the State and for supporting the government of Ondo State, describing them as important people in the State.

The Governor emphasized that despite differences in tribe and tongue, the shared identity as Nigerians binds everyone together. He stressed that unity and brotherhood should prevail, transcending any cultural or linguistic barriers.

He urged them to continue to be on unity and not let anything bring discord between them.
