Ondo 2024: NURTW declares support for Aiyedatiwa

It was carnival like at the State Secretariat of the National Union of Road Transport workers, (NURTW) Ondo State Council, as members of the Union declared their support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The State Chairman of NURTW, Comrade Ademola Odudu, expressed the Union’s confidence in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, citing his achievements in road infrastructure development and his dedication to addressing the concerns of transport workers. He emphasized that the NURTW’s support for the Governor is based on the tangible progress witnessed during his tenure.

“We have seen firsthand the positive impact of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership on our sector, his administration has not only improved our road networks but has also ensured the safety and prosperity of our members. We believe that his election into office come November 16 will bring even more development to Ondo State.”

“The National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW is never an assembly of thugs, touts, hooligans, rascals, ruffians and never do wells but a union of responsive, responsible, and law abiding citizens who are contributing their modest quota to internally generated revenue IGR of governor and overall National development of our dear native land, Nigeria through the movement of people, product and services from one place to another”.

While urging the members to continue to be responsible and law abiding, Odudu promised that his administration as the NURTW Chairman will continue to ensure discipline.

He assured the Governor that his members will come out en masse to vote for him at the gubernatorial election.

In his address, the Special Assistant to Governor Aiyedatiwa on union matters, Comrade Bola Taiwo commended the union for allowing peace in their union, he also appreciated the members of the Union for cooperating with their chairman.

The Southwest Zonal Chairman of NURTW, Mr Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), commended the excellent leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa, stressing that his leadership quality has earned him the support from the union members. He encouraged them to continue to canvass support for Governor Aiyedatiwa.

Reacting, Governor Aiyedatiwa Expressing deep gratitude for the Union’s endorsement, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized his administration’s commitment to continuing its work with the NURTW to further develop the state’s infrastructure and improve the welfare of transport workers. He noted that the collaboration between his administration and the NURTW has been instrumental in driving progress across Ondo State.

“I am truly honored by the support of this union, your contribution to our state’s development, especially in the transportation sector, is invaluable. My administration is committed to ensuring that the NURTW and its members continue to thrive in a conducive and secure environment.” Aiyedatiwa stated.

The governor also praised the union for conducting their activities peacefully since their reinstatement, expressing gratitude to the leaders for providing exemplary leadership at both the state and South West levels.

In attendance were ; the secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Senior Special Assistant on union matter, Comrade Bola Taiwo, Commisoner for Budget and Economic planning, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, State Chairman of APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, Head of Lagos State NURTW, Mr Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo).
