Ondo youths must build state’s future on hard work, character — Ikuomola

By Precious Oluwole

Youths in Ondo State have been urged to take greater responsibility for the future of the state by embracing hard work, discipline and good character.

The Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola in an interview with The Hope, said the role of young people would be critical as the state looks ahead to future milestones.

She said Ondo State is richly endowed, particularly in agriculture and solid minerals, noting that the state has the potential to rank among the most resource-rich if these assets are properly harnessed.

According to her, work remains the antidote to poverty, but labour without integrity and good character is of little value.

Ikuomola said while the state government continues to drive infrastructural development to ensure steady progress, the sustainability of these achievements depends largely on the attitude and conduct of youths.

She stressed the need for respect, humility and patience, urging young people to be mindful of how they speak and behave, especially in their interactions with elders.

The governor’s aide said youths must acquire the knowledge and wisdom required to address people appropriately, noting that discipline in conduct is essential for long-term success.

She challenged young people to reflect on the legacy they are building, asking what they are doing today that would earn them recognition in the future.

According to her, humility must be embraced fully if youths are to make meaningful and lasting contributions to the state.

Ikuomola maintained that character and work must go hand in hand, warning that competence without integrity offers little benefit.

She reminded youths that a good name is better than silver and gold, urging them to cultivate proper behaviour, as no one knows whom God has destined to help them.

She also explained that through intergovernmental relations, the state government is working with the federal government, development partners and relevant institutions to attract policies and programmes aligned with the governor’s Ease Agenda.

She said these efforts are aimed at translating intergovernmental cooperation into tangible benefits for the people of Ondo State.

In her goodwill message as Ondo State marks its golden jubilee, Ikuomola congratulated the people of the state on the 50th anniversary.

She described the jubilee as a historic milestone and a moment to reflect on the journey so far and recommit to unity and development.

Ikuomola expressed confidence that with purposeful leadership and collective support, Ondo State is well positioned for a brighter and more prosperous future, with youths at the centre of that future.
