A businessman and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dele Omosehin, has congratulated the people and government of Ondo State on the occasion of the state’s Golden Jubilee, describing the 50th anniversary as a historic milestone worthy of celebration and reflection.
In a goodwill message released to mark the anniversary by his media office in Akure on Tuesday, Omosehin commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his leadership and commitment to sustaining the legacy of development in the state.
The businessman, who is the convener of Asejere Progressive Movement, also acknowledged the contributions of past leaders, traditional rulers and citizens to the growth of Ondo State since its creation on 3 February 1976 by the military administration of General Murtala Mohammed
He noted that the last fifty years represent a remarkable journey of resilience, vision and shared progress, shaped by the industry, unity and determination of the people of Ondo State.
According to Omosehin, who doubles as the Lisa of Osooro, “Ondo State has remained a shining light of excellence within the Nigerian federation, drawing strength from its rich cultural heritage, agricultural endowments, intellectual contributions and entrepreneurial spirit.”
He stated that the Golden Jubilee provides an opportunity not only to celebrate past achievements but also to recommit to building a stronger and more prosperous future.
As a visionary politician, he called for a renewed focus on innovation, purposeful youth engagement, inclusive governance and sustainable economic growth that will benefit all communities across the state.
“The next phase of our development must be driven by policies and programmes that empower our young people, support our farmers and entrepreneurs, uplift our women and strengthen the institutions that serve our people,” he said.
The APC chieftain, who is aspiring to represent the good people of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027, further emphasised that the progress of Ondo State has never been accidental but the result of collective sacrifice, vision and responsibility.
While congratulating Governor Aiyedatiwa, members of the State Executive Council, traditional institutions and the entire people of the state, Omosehin expressed confidence that the coming decades will usher in even greater unity, prosperity and opportunities.
Ondo State at 50, according to him, is “not just a celebration of history, but a bold declaration of hope and confidence in the future.”
