OUR EASE Festival: Aiyedatiwa reaffirms commitment to students

By Precious Oluwole

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has reassured students in Ondo State of his administration’s steadfast commitment to their welfare, promising continued support for bursaries, scholarships and other educational initiatives.

Represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor welcomed students and congratulated them ahead of International Students’ Day on Monday, as well as the ongoing OUR EASE Student Festival.

Adeniyan highlighted the administration’s achievements in the education sector, noting that the state bursary for students has been increased from N10,000 to N20,000 and is now paid regularly. “Payments, which were previously irregular, are now being made consistently,” he said.

He also disclosed that additional bursaries have been approved for student leaders and student union executives across the state. Subventions to state-owned higher institutions have been increased, while the governor has extended support to cover the costs of WAEC and other external examinations, easing the financial burden on students.

Adeniyan commended students for their exemplary conduct, particularly those from the State Health Technology and Nursing School and lauded students of other state-owned institutions for supporting government policies.

“On behalf of Mr Governor, I congratulate you on this festival and assure you that the administration will continue to identify with students and improve their welfare,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Seyi Ogundipe praised the governor’s initiatives and reaffirmed their solidarity. “International Students’ Day is an opportunity to recognise the governor’s contributions to the student and youth community. We are here to show our support and appreciation for his initiatives,” he said.

Ogundipe also commended the governor for appointing Kelvin Solomon Olaolu, widely known as KSO, as Senior Special Adviser on Students’ Affairs, citing his close engagement with the student community.
