Ondo State Government has said it has in the last few years attained remarkable feats most especially in the area of funds recovery, revenue generation, systems digitalization, road construction among others.

The State Commissioner for Finance in the state, Hon..Wale Akinterinwa stated this at the NUJ press centre while fielding questions from the journalists on Tuesday, August 15th at the monthly MEDIA AGENDA put together by the leadership of Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo State Council.

Hon. Akinterinwa who said the state government recovered about N4.2 billion which it has used to kick start many projects doting the landscape of the state, further noted that these recoveries were made through reconciliation among others.

He also noted that the government has been able to.digitalize the financial reporting system of the state through the help of the World Bank

On road construction, he affirmed that the government embarked and completed many projects and that the delay on Oda Road construction is as a result of the variations in the cost of things that have changed in the country which the contractor has called for review.

He noted further that, the agreement reached with the contractor handling the road has to be reviewed

The Finance Commissioner further emphasized that the pensioners and the vulnerables in the state will start receiving their stipends of #10,000 begining from the end of the month of August.

He also revealed that the buses have been provided for the use of school children from September when they (the school children) will resume.

He assured that the state will continue to run a transparent government as it now ranks among the top three states in Nigeria that has attained such feats most especially in that regard.

Responding, the state chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Leke Adegbite and the Secretary, Olaoluwa Meshack appreciated the state government for taking steps to assuage the pains of the masses bearing the realities of the day.
