Primaries to elect candidates who would fly political parties’ flags in the November governorship election in Ondo state have come and gone and flagbearers have emerged across party lines..

As it is, the stage is set for serious electioneering by political parties and victorious candidates at the April primary elections, moreso, as the Independent National Electoral Commission has set the pace, making public, time table for the governorship election in the state.

Of the party candidates that emerged from the primaries, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa stands a chance to win the November governorship election if the incumbency factor comes to play.

This probably is the reason for the surge in the number of people clamouring to be Aiyedatiwa’s running mate in the November election.

Like the Yoruba adage “obe jina olukuluku nyo abo orisirisi” the soup is done already and everyone wants a share of the delicacy. Ideally, it is expected, as human, to be political; it is however necessary to thread softly and wittingly too, in anointing a running mate to run the race with Governor Aiyedatiwa who is the lucky flagbearer of the ruling APC.

Aiyedatiwa as pundits in the political arena of Ondo State would say, is a product of providence, having gone this far in the political firmament of the state, plagued by uncertainties and obstacles. The ‘star boy’ as he is fondly called by teeming followers rose to stardom, following the demise of his principal, former Governor, the Owo born legal icon, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, thus paving the way for his current position as Governor of the Sunshine state.

Led by divine guidance, Aiyedatiwa among all odds, found solace in another Owo born technocrat, Dr Olamide Owolabi Adelami, whom he appointed to run the affairs of governance with him.

Dr Adelami, a consummate public servant turned politician, astute technocrat, celebrated accountant, a retired Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, had since, to the admiration of many, alongside his boss, activated more than ever, the delivery of democracy dividends to the people of Ondo state since nature placed the duo in position of authority to serve the people.

No doubt, the duo have been a perfect pair in running the affairs of governance in Ondo state. It is a common say that no one changes a winning team. Governor Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Dr Adelami are a better Pair thus far, in running the affairs of Ondo state government.

Those clamouring to deputise Governor Aiyedatiwa come 2025 are not in anyway better, and cannot in anyway, safe for undue politicking and lust of office, excel more than the Owo born technocrat, Dr Adelami, who has proven beyond doubt that he can work with his boss Honourable Lucky Aiyedatiwa to bring about the expected turnaround in the fortune of Ondo state and the duo must be supported to succeed, in the overall interest of All.

The Governor, himself must be wary not to fall for the antics of noise makers, self made strategists, who are running to outdo each other for the position of the Deputy Governor. They all have nothing to offer safe for lust and booty of office.

When he must choose, Aiyedatiwa, nay APC must choose wisely to sustain the popularity being enjoyed across the length and breadth of Ondo State. The current pair is good enough to do the racing, come November, this year. Listening to detracting calls by self made agitators could be dangerous.
