Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has assured former legislators from Ondo State of his administration’s continued partnership, as they prepare to attend a regional summit of ex-lawmakers in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Speaking while receiving the delegation on Friday in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the group for organizing themselves into a formidable body for political engagement, noting that their wealth of experience remains valuable to governance in the state. He described them as a critical bloc whose past contributions through legislation still shape Ondo’s development.

The Governor emphasized that his administration recognizes and respects the forum of former legislators, pledging to always consult them on key issues. He further urged the delegation to represent the state with dignity at the Abeokuta meeting, which is convened by a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

On the political front, Aiyedatiwa reiterated Ondo State’s unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to him, both the executive and legislative stakeholders in the state are united in ensuring an overwhelming victory for the President.

“We have already declared Ondo for Tinubu 2027, and as a government, we will mobilize all structures of the APC to deliver massively. I am glad that our former legislators have also keyed into this cause,” the Governor affirmed.

He wished the delegation a safe trip to Abeokuta and fruitful deliberations, while charging them to continue working in harmony with the state government for the progress of Ondo State.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Hon. Olanrewaju Kazeem, explained that their mission was not only to notify the Governor but also to seek his blessings before representing the state at a scheduled summit in Abeokuta, which brings together former legislators from across the Southwest region, emphasizing that as loyal party members, they would not engage in any APC-related activity without the knowledge and approval of the state leader.

He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his style of leadership and for recognizing their body as an important platform for political engagement, assuring him of their continued support for his administration and pledged to work together in advancing the interests of Ondo State within the wider political structure of the Southwest and Nigeria at large.

In attendance were; Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Olukayode Ajulo, Special Adviser on Political Matters, Mr Smart Omodunbi.
