Hon. Princess Chi Ezeh, Managing Director of Muna Sylver Nigeria Limited, has called on the federal government and private sector to create more leadership opportunities for women in Nigeria’s maritime industry.

As the current Vice President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Western Zone, and the only female representative on the Governing Board of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Princess Chi emphasized the need for gender inclusivity.

She highlighted that increasing women’s participation in maritime affairs would contribute to economic growth and enhance Nigeria’s GDP.

Her advocacy comes after receiving the “Role Model of the Decade” award from Primetime Reporters, a publication by Chisann Communications.

She expressed concern over the underrepresentation of women in key leadership positions within government ministries, departments, and agencies, noting that this limits their ability to contribute effectively to the industry.

“I strongly believe that women can excel when given leadership opportunities,” she stated. “Being recognized in a male-dominated industry like freight forwarding is not easy. I am grateful to God for the strength and opportunities that have enabled me to achieve success in business and leadership.”

Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged that her rise in the industry was not solely due to hard work but also divine providence.

She vowed to use her position to further empower women and promote gender equality within the maritime sector.

“As a philanthropist, I am committed to increasing awareness and encouraging more women to pursue careers in freight forwarding. This award motivates me to do more,” she added.

Presenting the award, Mr. Saint Augustine Nwadinamuo, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Primetime Reporters, praised Princess Chi for paving the way for young women in the industry.

He urged her to continue mentoring the next generation, helping them develop resilience and determination in their careers.

The award ceremony was part of Primetime Reporters’ 10th-anniversary celebration, held on December 4, 2024, at the Welcome Centre and Hotels, Airport Road, Lagos.

Themed “Leveraging Technology to Maximize the Potential of Nigeria’s Blue Economy,” the event highlighted the critical role of innovation in maritime development.
