Shock in Ondo as young woman found dead in hotel

A cloud of bewilderment and fear has gripped Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area in Ondo State, following the discovery of a young woman’s lifeless body in a well-known hotel along the Ore–Okitipupa Road.

The unidentified woman was found dead late Tuesday afternoon after hotel staff forced their way into the room following repeated, unanswered knocks.

The incident immediately sent shockwaves through the hotel, a facility frequented by both travellers and local residents.

Hotel workers, who had earlier seen the lady in the company of a man described as her friend, reportedly found her lying lifeless on the bed with no visible signs of violence.

A source told our correspondent that the deceased had checked into the hotel with a man identified as Sodiq Ganiyu, reportedly to spend the night.

“The two were seen together earlier in the day, but when staff gained access to the room, the lady was found unresponsive,” the source said.

Ganiyu was said to have fled shortly after the discovery, prompting security operatives to launch efforts to trace him.

A security source confirmed the incident, adding that the woman’s body has been deposited at the Ore morgue.

Preliminary checks revealed no external injuries, but investigators have scheduled an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death as police intensify their probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
