Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State says that his administration is committed to justice and fairness to all citizens and residents of the state.
Aiyedatiwa stated this on Friday in Akure while swearing-in of newly appointed Justices of the Peace in the state
“ As an administration, we are committed to fostering a society where justice prevails and every citizen feels safe, valued and heard.
“It is in this regard that we are strengthening the administration of justice system in our state through appointment of more state counsels and increasing the number of judges in the State Judiciary.
“Our administration is also constructing a new Ondo State Judiciary Complex.
“The Complex when completed would have features such as ceremonial court, modular courts, library etc,” he stated.
The governor enjoined the holders of JP to see the status as a call to service, asking them to discharge their responsibilities responsibly.
“ As Justices of the Peace, you have a dutyto promote fairness while resolving disputes and contributing positively to the overall well-being of our society.
“ Your influence will extend beyond your immediate community and your commitment to justice will leave an indelible mark on the lives you touch,” he said.
Also speaking, Dr Kayode Ajulo, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, said the occasion was not just historic but significant as the state reconnected with a venerable tradition that had strengthened communities and promoted a well-ordered society.
Ajulo stated that the title of “Justice of the Peace” is not merely ceremonial; it represents trust and a commitment to service.
According to him, the holders of the title were selected through a transparent, merit-based, and consultative process.
“They exemplify proven integrity and honesty, respected moral standing within the community , demonstrate leadership or service.
“ They also exemplify discipline , humility, and peaceful demeanor and a lifestyle aligned with the dignity of the office,” he said.
