The Technical Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on erosion control–related matters, Mr Elisha Ebijimi, has said Ilaje Local Government Area witnessed an unprecedented reception for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, attributing the massive turnout to the administration’s performance, particularly in erosion control.
Ebijimi said residents trooped out in their numbers to celebrate the governor during his statewide tour of local governments, noting that it was the first time such a huge crowd had gathered in honour of a sitting governor in the history of the area.
According to him, the people openly identified the governor as their leader, father and uncle, stressing that the outpouring of support reflected their satisfaction with his leadership in Ondo State and Ilaje Local Government.
He disclosed that Ondo State recently won an award in Abuja for its performance in erosion control, adding that the recognition was received about two weeks ago.
Ebijimi said the award would be celebrated on December 27 in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government.
Speaking further, he said the state government had assured residents that they would enjoy the dividends of governance, emphasising that the administration possessed the technical expertise to tackle environmental challenges.
He revealed that plans were underway to introduce concrete V-channels with a one-metre walkway, adding that the design would have a depth of 25 metres with a spacing of 10 metres.
Ebijimi expressed confidence that the intervention would permanently address flooding in Ondo State, saying the state was already on the path to eliminating flood incidents.
