Gov Aiyedatiwa leads anniversary health walk, urges fitness for effective service

By Precious Oluwole

Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has underscored the importance of physical fitness as a foundation for effective leadership and productivity, saying a healthy body enhances spiritual, mental and emotional strength.

The governor made this known on Saturday at the Akure Township Stadium after leading the workers and people of the State on the anniversary health walk organised as part of activities marking the state’s golden jubilee celebration.

He said “Despite limited sleep, I joined the exercise to demonstrate commitment to healthy living”.

According to him, physical exercise is vital for cardiovascular health and overall wellbeing, stressing that a weak body could affect the soul and spirit, thereby limiting human capacity to function optimally.

He described the health walk as a key component of the anniversary programme, noting that it complements spiritual activities by promoting discipline, endurance and renewed strength.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the turnout, describing the exercise as successful, with no casualties recorded. He commended members of the anniversary planning committee, fitness instructors, security personnel and participants for their cooperation and enthusiasm.

Aiyedatiwa added that the health walk had left participants stronger than when they arrived and encouraged residents to make regular exercise a lifestyle.

He concluded by inviting residents to participate in subsequent anniversary events, including the thanksgiving service scheduled to hold at St. Thomas Church.
