SUGA congratulates Ondo State at 50, lauds Gov Aiyedatiwa’s governance reforms

The Sunshine Grassroots Alliance (SUGA) has congratulated the Government and people of Ondo State on the celebration of 50 years of statehood, describing the Golden Jubilee as a historic moment of struggle, progress and renewal.

In a statement commemorating the milestone, the group said the anniversary goes beyond festivities, noting that it provides an opportunity to reflect on the political struggles, democratic aspirations and collective sacrifices that have shaped the Sunshine State over the past five decades.

SUGA commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for what it described as the disciplined and focused implementation of the OUR EASE agenda, which it said has driven reform, development and people-centred governance across the state.

According to the alliance, the agenda reflects a clear commitment to accountability, economic inclusion, citizens’ wellbeing and institutional renewal, adding that policy consistency under the current administration is translating vision into tangible progress at the community level and strengthening public confidence in government.

The group noted that Ondo State was founded on the ideals of social justice, educational advancement, public service and grassroots participation, stressing that workers, teachers, farmers, artisans and local communities have remained the backbone of governance and development since the state’s creation.

Looking ahead, SUGA called for the deepening of democratic governance, reforms of public institutions, strengthened local government autonomy, and sustained investment in education and human capital development.

The alliance expressed confidence that the future of the state should be anchored on accountability, equity and inclusive, people-oriented policies that uplift the grassroots majority.

Reaffirming its stance as a grassroots movement rooted among serving and retired local government workers and primary school teachers, SUGA pledged continued commitment to progressive reform, responsive leadership and participatory governance, stressing that the next phase of Ondo State’s development must be defined by bold reforms, a renewed social contract and a governance culture driven by service to the people.
