Leadership Newspapers has named Green Energy International Limited the Oil and Gas Local Content Company of the Year 2025, citing the firm’s strides in indigenous participation in Nigeria’s energy sector.
The award followed the company’s construction of the country’s first indigenous onshore crude oil terminal at Otakikpo, a project widely regarded as a milestone in local content development within the oil and gas industry.
Located in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, the terminal is designed to unlock oil and gas potential in the Niger Delta by providing evacuation routes for previously stranded oil fields.
Leadership noted that the facility represents the first time a wholly Nigerian indigenous company has built such infrastructure, more than five decades after the nation’s reliance on terminals constructed by multinational oil firms.
Speaking while receiving the award on behalf of the board, management and staff, the company’s Director of Legal and Corporate Services, Barr. Olusegun Ilori, expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising the firm’s efforts.
Ilori described the project as a patriotic initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s crude oil supply chain and providing access for operators of stranded fields to evacuate and export their products.
He added that the company was motivated by the need to create opportunities for other oil and gas operators while also securing evacuation channels for its own production, noting that the recognition would spur further commitment.
The director also commended the company’s chairman, Pastor (Prof.) Anthony Adegbulugbe, regulators and other stakeholders for their support, attributing the organisation’s achievements to teamwork and dedication to efficient service delivery.
