Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has hailed elder statesman and leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, for his immense contributions to Yoruba unity, national development, and democratic advancement as he clocked 100 years.

In a congratulatory message marking the centenary celebration of the Afenifere leader, Aiyedatiwa joined the people of Ondo State, the Yoruba nation, and well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond in celebrating what he described as an extraordinary statesman, exemplary patriot, revered Awoist, and symbol of selfless service.

The governor described Pa Fasoranti’s attainment of the age of 100 as a rare divine blessing and a celebration of a life dedicated to truth, courage, integrity, and humanity.

According to him, the elder statesman’s life journey remains a shining testimony to disciplined leadership and enduring commitment to societal progress.

Aiyedatiwa noted that Pa Fasoranti played a historic role in the agitation and movement that culminated in the creation of Ondo State in 1976, stressing that his sacrifices alongside those of other progressive leaders laid the foundation for the growth and identity of the state.

The governor further praised the nonagenarian for his unwavering commitment to national development, democratic struggles, educational advancement, and the preservation of the cherished values and culture of the Yoruba people.

“Baba has remained a towering voice in national development, democratic struggles, educational advancement, and the preservation of the cherished values of the Yoruba people. His courage, wisdom, simplicity, and steadfast commitment to justice continue to inspire generations of leaders,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa described Pa Fasoranti at 100 as a symbol of honour, resilience, and selfless service whose life embodies the finest ideals of the Omoluabi ethos and the progressive tradition associated with the Yoruba nation.

He prayed that God would continue to bless the elder statesman with peace, sound health, strength, and abiding joy, while expressing hope that his enduring legacy would continue to guide Ondo State and Nigeria towards unity, peace, and lasting prosperity.

“Happy 100th Birthday, Baba,” the governor added.
