Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has congratulated the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the South West Development Commission (SWDC), Dr. Charles Akindiji Akinola, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a visionary leader and development strategist.
In a goodwill message issued on Thursday, by the Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Governor praised Dr. Akinola’s commitment to inclusive growth and regional development, noting that his leadership at the SWDC is already laying the foundation for sustainable economic transformation across the Southwest.
Aiyedatiwa said Ondo State stands to benefit significantly from the Commission’s development agenda, particularly in agriculture, integrated infrastructure, industrialisation and investment.
The Governor commended Dr. Akinola for his pivotal role in the establishment of the SWDC, adding that the Commission’s priorities align with Ondo State’s development agenda in agricultural transformation, infrastructural renewal and energy development.
He also highlighted Dr. Akinola’s previous service as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Marine and Blue Economy, describing the experience as relevant to Ondo State’s aspirations to harness its maritime resources and advance port development.
According to the Governor, the SWDC’s TransComms initiative complements the state’s vision of making agriculture the foundation for economic prosperity and sustainable development.
Aiyedatiwa further lauded Dr. Akinola’s distinguished public service career, recalling his tenure as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Osun State and his pioneering role in developing the Global Memoranda of Understanding in the Niger Delta, which he said established a model for collaboration among communities, governments and multinational corporations.
The Governor wished the SWDC chief executive continued good health, divine wisdom and renewed strength as he leads the Commission in advancing regional integration and shared prosperity across the Southwest.
