Ondo Assembly screens Commissioner, Civil Service Commission nominees

The Ondo State House of Assembly has screened and considered the nominations of a Commissioner-designate, Erelu Taibat Oloruntoba; the Chairman of the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, Dr Mann Omobayi Alli; and a member of the Commission, Mr Michael Oshodi.

The nominees appeared before the House as part of the constitutional process for their confirmation and appointment to their respective offices.

During the screening, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Olamide Oladiji, urged the nominees to regard their prospective appointments as a call to service, stressing the need for commitment, integrity, diligence and loyalty in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Oladiji charged them to always place the interests of the people and the state above personal considerations, noting that their positions would require sound judgement, discipline and dedication to duty.

Speaking shortly after the screening, the Commissioner-nominee, Erelu Taibat Oloruntoba, expressed appreciation to the House for the opportunity to appear before it and assured the people of her unwavering commitment to the government and people of Ondo State.

“We wish to express our satisfaction with the thorough and comprehensive nature of the screening. They checked the authenticity of our certificates and also focused largely on how we intend to contribute to the growth and development of Ondo State,” she said.

Also speaking, the nominee for Chairman of the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, Dr Mann Omobayi Alli, appreciated the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for the confidence reposed in him.

He assured the lawmakers of his readiness to contribute meaningfully to the development of the Commission, particularly through the deployment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance digitalisation, efficiency and effective service delivery.

Similarly, the nominee for membership of the Commission, Mr Michael Oshodi, assured the House that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in promoting efficiency and professionalism in the Civil Service.

The screening exercise, which took place at the Speaker’s Office, was well attended by members of the House, including the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Gbegudu Ololade; the House Leader, Hon. Olatunji Oshati; the Chief Whip, Hon. Suleiman Murtala; the Deputy Parliamentary Secretary, Hon. Primate Oluwatoyin Allen; the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi; Hon. Kolawole Ologede; Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa; Hon. Nelson Akinsuroju; and the Clerk of the House, Barr. Benjamin Jaiyeola.
