The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) today played host to the Managing Director/CEO of Nigeria LNG Ship Management Limited, with his team of two management officials who were guests to the President -General of the Union, Comrade (Prince) Adewale Adeyanju and some of his national and branch executives comprising Comrades Francis Bunu ( DPG), Abudu Eroje (DSG Organising), Abubakar Bello ( VPG), Ohize ( President Dockworkers), Avoseh Sunday ( President Seafarers), Uche Igweonu ( National Treasurer), Edwin Sambo (DSG Admin), Ayokunle Ajayi ( General Secretary, Seafarers), and John Kennedy Ikemefuna ( Head, Media MWUN) at the National Secretariat, 119 Osho-Drive, Olodi, Apapa, Lagos.

The visit which was a courtesy call is aimed at congratulating Comrade Adeyanju, who was recently voted unopposed as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at Abuja. No doubt, the visit was geared to further strengthen the already existing good ties between NSML and the Union; more especially in the areas of the Union’s members, who are Seafarers in the employ of the NSML with very obvious cognisance to their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will commence soon.

Comrade Adeyanju who was highly impressed with the NSML management visit had real time to relate issues of utmost importance on both parties to the NSML team. However, both parties had agreed to keep the good relationship they have had since inception and promised each other of total transparency and mutual cooperation in all fronts towards striking a balanced success in the maritime sector and most pertinently the welfare of the Seafarers and the Union in general.

While speaking, Comrade Adeyanju equivocally said that the NSML boss and his team visit to the Union had shown that he’s indeed a Grassroots administrator of repute who has immensely transformed the NSML to standard. Also showing appreciation in this light, the NSML MD, Ahmed reiterated he will continue to come to the table with issues of mutual benefits that will befit the Union at all times and its Seafarers in the NSML workforce.

Meanwhile, Adeyanju has congratulated Christians on Easter celebration in commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Comrade Adeyanju implored Christians across the country to imbibe the exemplary life style of our lord Jesus, which includes showing love and forgiving one another as Christ is the emblem of God’s love.

The Union’s top notch noted that it’s only when we live righteously as Christians that we can accommodate ourselves using Christ as a role model of peace and a symbol of love, who did not segregate amongst all men while on planet earth.

While greeting Christians and leaders of Churches in the country, Comrade Adeyanju reemphasised that as Christians, we must at all times be our brothers keeper in all situations no matter our descent, tribe, region or political affiliation putting into account that we are all one in the likeness of God’s image and so we must allow the spirit of the resurrection of Christ be our guide for that is the reason for the Easter celebration.
