Ondo State House of Assembly, on Thursday vowed that it won’t backtrack on its stance to investigate the allegation of gross misconduct levelled against the state Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa.

This comes on the heels of the response of the Chief Judge communicated to the House on why he could not honour the request to constitute a panel citing an exparte order granted and served on him by an Abuja Federal court presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after its Parliamentary meeting, the Spokesperson of the House, Hon. Olatunji Oshati explained that the House in its resolution after parliamentary meeting today posited that “As a house who have displayed high level of decorum, would not deviate from the laid down rules and procedures to perform her oversight duties and so the house have no choice than to wait till when the court injunction is vacated by the court of Appeal.

“The Assembly would surely follow due process and obey the laws of the land.
Section 188 of the 1999 constitution as amended was explicit on the process for the impeachment of a Governor or Deputy Governor of a State.

“Therefore,the Assembly would not deviate from the dictates of the constitution in exercising its constitutional rights to perform its oversight functions.

“The Chief Judge wrote to the Assembly on the reason why he could not honour the request of the Assembly. Justice Odusola cited an exparte order granted and served on him by an Abuja Federal High Court presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, restraining him from constituting the panel”, he stated.
