The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has reiterated his administration’s efforts to enhance security through collaboration with conventional security forces, including the Nigerian Army.

Governor Aiyedatiwa made this assertion on Tuesday while hosting military personnel led by Major General Obinna Godwin Onuborgu, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, at his office in Akure.

He emphasized that his administration is committed to ensuring the utmost security of lives and property within the state.

The governor said “We are grateful for your visit and for the security your men provide to our people, We’ve greatly benefited from the support of your forces in Ondo State, especially at our borders with Edo. The Army has been instrumental in addressing kidnappings, working alongside the police, civil defence, and our local security outfit, the Amotekun Corps.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa also urged the military and other security agencies to ensure maximum security during the upcoming governorship election on November 16.

“As the sitting governor, given the mandate in the recently concluded APC primary election on April 20, I am aware of the significant election ahead in November. I appeal to you to provide the necessary security during this off-season election, as all eyes will be on Ondo State.”

Earlier, Major General Obinna Godwin Onuborgu, who took over as General Officer Commanding 2 Division on March 13, overseeing seven states including Kwara, Kogi, Edo, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ondo, spoke about his visit.

He said “I am here to inspect my troops throughout Ondo State, with the dual purpose of providing them with encouragement and conducting a thorough assessment of the security situation. Our troops work tirelessly to maintain peace and stability, and it is essential for me to see firsthand their dedication and challenges.

During my visit, I have had detailed briefings from the Brigade Commander and other security agencies. These briefings have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the current security dynamics in the state, and the effectiveness of our ongoing operations”

Also, Major General Onuborgu commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for maintaining peace in the state and pledged that the force would continuously protect lives and properties in the state.

He said “i want to congratulate you for maintaining such a peaceful state. Ondo is one of the most peaceful states within my area of responsibility.”

“Our job as a division is to ensure peace in Ondo State, allowing socio-economic activities to thrive. This is our promise to the people and the President of the Federation.” He added.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami, Secretary to the Government Tayo Oluwatuyi, Chief of Staff Prince Segun Omojuwa, and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Olukayode Ajulo.
