Following the incessant accidents which led to the total shut down of the main gate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Governor Aiyedatiwa has pledged to find an alternative route for high lorries.

The Governor gave this assurance while conducting an on the spot assesment to the institution on Saturday.

Governor Aiyedatiwa who was being led by the Vice chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olugbenga Ige stated that “the visit is to have the knowledge of the traffic in the area. You will recall that there have been series of accidents in the time past, around this university, due to the topography of the road, the sloppiness and a lot of vehicles, trucks and lorries lose their control, ran into the school gate, where lives has been lost in the time past.

“Since then, we have been looking at measure that we can take or put in place that can curb such, so that lives and property at the school gate can be protected as students.

“We have a temporary measure a barricade has been put on the road to discourage high lorries from plying the road and that has been working so far. It has reduced accident and death of students. But even at that, they try to look for a way to maneuver.

“Now, we’ll look at alternative road for lorries, so that we can put that in our budget and try to see how we can make life better for the people, especially with the population of students in AAUA. They are about 26,000 students, so we have to give them infrastructure and amenities that will make life better for them.
