ODSG approves N3.5 billion for construction of primary schools

Ondo State Government has approved the sum of N3.5 billion counterpart fund for SUBEB for the construction and renovation of primary schools across the State.

This approval came after the meeting of the State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Addressing newsmen at the Governor’s office on Friday, the State Commissioner for Education, Mr Olaolu Akindolire said that the N3.5 billion counterpart fund for SUBEB is at zero interest rate.

He noted that 3.2 billion had earlier been approved by the State Government for the construction of secondary schools across the 3 Senatorial Districts of the State.

He appreciated the Governor for the laudable achievement and for prioritizing the educational sector.

The Commisoner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, noted that during the meeting, the State Government also approved the appointment of Oba Daramola Oluwasola Samuel as the new Olupele of Ipele in Owo LGA and also approved the recognition of Olusan of Ayesan Chieftaincy to the status of a monarch.

He added that the State Government also approved the Alale of Idasen stool to two different ones, as Alale Ile and Alale Oko.

Also speaking, Commisoner for environment, Hon. Oyeniyi Oseni, stated that the State Government sympathised with the people of Ayetoro over the recurrence sea incursion, adding that the government has completed the review of design and technical report of Ayetoro for implementation and ordered the immediate initiative of temporary solution to avert more flooding

On his part, the Special Adviser to the Governor on health, Prof. Simidele Odimayo, expressed the state government’s happiness on low case of lassa fever in the month of September, no case of cholera and monkey pox. He noted that all borders and communities to carry out necessary measures, so that the health of the people can be maintained, the Governor promised that the health sector is sustained for the generality of the people of the state.

Speaking on “Project 10 million for the screening of people to detect those with hypertension and diabetes, he stated that it was discovered that most cases of sudden death results from hypertension and diabetes and the project is to ensure that the health of the people is sustained.

He noted that the project 10 million would come up on 13th to 19th of October, 2024 where people be tested and treated to ensure that sudden death reduces among the people of the State.

He stressed that the government also approved the renovation of primary health care facilities in the 203 wards across the State, properly fenced for the security of the staff and patients, provision of basic accomodation for the Staff, so that they can be on standby, provision of solar power, and boreholes.

The Commisoner for information, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu reiterated the Governor’s commitment to zero pot holes, mandating the State ministry of infrastructure to ensure that by December, the state should be free of potholes, he added that workers’ salaries will be paid before the end of the month.

He appealed to the people of the State to be law abiding, as the governorship election of the State draws near.
