We’ve passed eight bills in 1 year – Ondo Assembly

Ondo State House of Assembly has declared that it has passed eight bills within this year with three bills pending for scrutiny.

The Speaker of the house, Chief Olamide Oladiji made the declaration today during plenary and said that the laws had assisted in achieving good governance in the State.

The bills so far passed
are,Year 2024 Appropriation Law, 2024 OSOPADEC Appropriation Law, 2024 ODIRS Appropriation Law,a bill for a Law to Amend the provision of Ondo State High Court Law, 2006 and other matters incidental thereto ,a bill for a law to amend the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission Law, 2021 and other matters r.

Other bills passed into law are ,a bill to amend the 2024 Appropriation Law,bill for a law to establish the Oil Producing Areas Development Commission and to make provision for the composition of the Commission and for Ancillary matters, and a bill for a Law to provide for the proposed Year 2024 Budget for the Eighteen Local Governments Areas of Ondo State, which the Speaker said was the first of its kind to be passed by any Assembly.

Oladij informed that aside bills passed, some bills have also been forwarded to the various Committees for legislative scrutiny.

The pending bills
are, a bill for a Law to prohibit forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed properties, violent and fraudulent conducts in relation to landed properties in Ondo State and for purposes connected herewith,a bill for a Law to provide for the Establishment of a Board for the Management of Secondary Schools in Ondo State and a bill For a Law to Amend the Ondo State University Medical Sciences law, 2015.

The Speaker reassure people of the state that the house is irrevocably committed to the programmes and policies of the present Administration.

He appealed to all political gladiators and the people of the State to tread cautiously throughout the on-going electioneering campaign during and after the election.

He added that because of the forthcoming Governorship election, it is important and necessary that all Honourable Members go to their Constituencies to campaign and sensitize Members of their Constituents on the importance of exercising their franchise.

He therefore enjoined the lawmakers to continue to create time for the House business whenever the need arises during this electioneering period and take into cognizance the importance of budget presentation in the month of December 2024 and the subsequent passage of Year 2025 Appropriation Bill into Law.

The Speaker declared a six six weeks recess with effect from today, Tuesday, 5th November, 2024 , to resume on 17th December 2024.

He thanked Honorable members, Clark of the house, Jaiyeola Benjamin and his team and other stakeholders for their cooperation and support at all times.
