Ondo State Governor, Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his commitment to comprehensive development, emphasizing the vast economic potential of the riverine region.
During a visit to Araromi Seaside in Ilaje Local Government Area, he highlighted the growing interest of investors in the area.
Speaking with journalists as part of activities leading up to his inauguration, themed “Unlocking Investment Opportunities Around the Sea,” Aiyedatiwa assured that every sector of the state’s economy would benefit from his administration’s agenda for holistic development.
He reiterated that the visit aimed to showcase the untapped economic opportunities in Araromi and beyond, encouraging both local and international investors to explore the region.
“Our coastline, infrastructure projects, and strategic partnerships signal a promising future for tourism, trade, and economic expansion,” he stated.
The governor emphasized Ondo State’s readiness to collaborate with stakeholders to transform its natural assets into thriving economic hubs that would create jobs, increase revenue, and improve the quality of life for residents.
He also noted that Araromi’s strategic location, just 45 minutes from Lagos, would become even more accessible with the ongoing coastal highway project, which will enhance connectivity and boost tourism.
Addressing the delayed deep-sea port project, Aiyedatiwa explained that an error in the initial approval process had necessitated a restart.
However, he assured that progress was underway, revealing that discussions with international investors were ongoing to bring the project to fruition.
In addition, the governor announced that contracts had been awarded for the construction of primary healthcare facilities in all 203 wards across the state.
He also disclosed that the Oda road project in Akure would be commissioned next month, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
On education, Aiyedatiwa assured that employment letters for newly recruited teachers would be issued after his inauguration.
He clarified that teachers would be posted based on their areas of residence to ensure an even distribution of manpower and prevent rural-urban migration.
Earlier, the Alara of Araromi Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Adeoloye Olawole, expressed gratitude for the governor’s development initiatives, particularly the award of two intra-town road projects.
He described Araromi Seaside as an economic hub waiting to be fully explored, highlighting the community’s commitment to progress and collaboration with the state government.
After the press conference, the governor took a symbolic dive at the beach, encouraging residents to embrace the leisure and tourism potential of the seaside.
