Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Tuesday commended the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) for its contributions to the spiritual and social development of the state.
The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa, gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Governor’s Office by the fellowship to present an award of excellence to him.
Omojuwa, who conveyed the governor’s appreciation, thanked the fellowship for deeming it fit to honour Dr. Aiyedatiwa during the commemoration of the PFN’s 40th anniversary, describing the organisation’s history as both rich and impactful.
According to him, the PFN has consistently influenced the spiritual and socio-economic growth of Ondo State.
He noted that the governor regularly feels the impact of the fellowship, especially through its prayers and the mobilisation of Christians in support of government programmes and policies.
He further acknowledged the PFN’s contribution to security and peacekeeping, stating that the governor had on several occasions called on the fellowship to intervene in delicate situations.
He commended the group for applying its knowledge and experience to stabilise the state.
Omojuwa added that the governor appreciates the support the PFN has shown to Christianity and the church in the state, stressing that the governor openly identifies with the fellowship and remains committed to reciprocating its goodwill.
He assured the delegation that the virtues for which the governor was being honoured would continue to guide his administration.
He described the award as an honour not only to the governor but to the entire people of Ondo State who share in his vision and mission, adding that the award would not be taken for granted.
Speaking during the visit, the State Chairman of PFN, Bishop Joshua Opayinka, said the fellowship was delighted to present the award of excellence to the governor in recognition of his support and contributions to the organisation.
He praised the governor for the good work he is doing in the state and urged him to do more, expressing confidence that God would continue to strengthen him.
Opayinka, who noted that the PFN clocked 40 years in operation, said the fellowship has over the years played a vital role in uniting the body of Christ, supporting the less privileged through various initiatives and assisting the sick through outreach programmes.
He explained that the fellowship decided to honour individuals who had contributed to its progress through words, actions and support, including the governor, whom he described as a father figure to the state PFN.
He also highlighted the governor’s commitment to public expressions of faith, including his monthly Night of Praise, saying the PFN was proud to identify with his leadership. He prayed for the governor’s success and a strong finish in office.
