Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing national development through strategic partnerships and support for research-based policymaking.
The governor gave this assurance on Monday while receiving participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 47, 2025, from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, who are on a study tour of Ondo State. The event was held at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure.
Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated members of the delegation on their selection into the prestigious course, describing it as a recognition of their leadership potential and professional accomplishments.
“I congratulate every member of this distinguished delegation for being selected for this year’s course,” the governor said. “It is a testament to your track record and the confidence reposed in your capabilities.”
He commended NIPSS for choosing Ondo State as one of its study destinations, noting that the state offers vast opportunities in natural resources, culture, and intellectual capital.
“You’ve come to the right place. Whatever inquiries you intend to make, Ondo State will prove resourceful and relevant to your mission.”
The governor assured the team of the state government’s full support throughout their stay, emphasizing his administration’s openness to collaboration that promotes knowledge exchange and sustainable growth.
“We will give you our maximum cooperation to ensure your visit is successful,” he stated. “Also, I urge you to take time to explore Ondo’s tourist destinations, you’ll be amazed at what you’ll discover.”
The delegation was led by Alhaji Muhammad Sulaiman, Secretary and Director of Administration at NIPSS, who represented the Director-General, Prof Ayo Omotayo. He explained that the participants, drawn from diverse sectors, had been grouped to visit seven states—Cross River, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Benue, Lagos, and Ondo—based on their relevance to this year’s national research theme.
“The 2025 course theme is ‘Blue Economy and Sustainable Development: Issues, Challenges, and Opportunities’, as assigned by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Sulaiman noted. “The states selected all have marine boundaries critical to understanding the blue economy.”
He said insights gathered during the fieldwork would form part of a comprehensive report to be submitted to the President in November.
Sulaiman also thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for the warm hospitality extended to the team.
“We are not surprised by the welcome we’ve received. Ondo truly lives up to its name as the Sunshine State. On behalf of the Director-General and the Institute, we sincerely appreciate your Excellency’s reception,” he said.
Also present at the event were the Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami; Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip.
