Amotekun Holds Candlelight Procession For Late Akeredolu
Commanders and officers of Western Nigeria Security Network, Code named Amotekun, on Wednesday, held a candlelight procession in respect to Late Governor Akeredolu in Akure.
The officers, led by the Corps commandants of Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti States, began their procession from Cathedral and ended it at Governor’s office, Alagbaka, Akure, the State capital, chanting different songs.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa who received the Corps Commanders at the Governor’s Office, promised unwavering commitment to the sustenance of the formation initiated by Late Akeredolu.
He also assured them of the utmost importance placed on the security of lives and property within the region.
Addressing the pressmen, the State Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye stated that the good works that Governor Akeredolu had done is mainly in the provision of security of lives and property in the Southwest. “We are all living testimonies of the fact that the security in the Southwest has greatly improved, we are of resolute and determined in continuing the good work that he started, that’s our own contribution in immortalizing our great leader.
“Late Governor Akeredolu will be greatly missed by everybody in Amotekun.
“We have met with all the governors, and they have demonstrated their solidarity with the people of Ondo State. All the Corps commanders traveled from their respective states today, and that’s the reason for the 5km walk we embarked upon.
“The death of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu will not affect the operations of Amotekun. We already have the reassurance from Government Aiyedatiwa that he will continue the good works that Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu was doing in Amotekun. We don’t have any fear at all”.
Oyo State Commander of Amotekun, Col. Olayinka Olayanju Rtd, opined that the Southwest Commanders of Amotekun are very proud of the Late Governor, adding that “his call to glory is just a phase because he will continue to be with us. We were with him and we will continue to be with him.
” We’ve been assured by Governor Aiyedatiwa that he will continue Late Akeredolu’s works, we are not afraid”.
