Customs Area Controllers of Tin Can Island Port, led by Comptroller Dera. A. Nnadi, have announced a significant revenue collection milestone for the first quarter of 2024, totaling ₦303.9 billion compared to ₦126.8 billion in the same period of 2023.

During a media briefing, Comptroller Dera. A. Nnadi commended the Command’s officers and personnel for their dedication to service delivery and teamwork, resulting in surpassing the first-quarter revenue target for 2024 by 139%, amounting to an excess of ₦177 million compared to 2023.

Emphasizing the importance of stakeholders, Comptroller Nnadi stressed the need to treat them with respect while diligently identifying compliant and non-compliant traders.

Breaking down the revenue generated for the quarter, Compt. Nnadi reported collections of ₦88.4 billion in January 2024 (a 107.9% increase from January 2023), ₦100.3 billion in February 2024 (a 141.8% increase from February 2023), and ₦115.1 billion in March 2024 (a 163.9% increase from March 2023).

Highlighting the efforts of the Enforcement and Anti-Smuggling Unit, Compt. Nnadi announced successful interceptions, including 57 packets of heroin weighing 56.390kg valued at ₦902.2 million and 3612 packets of Colorado Indica weighing 956.772kg valued at ₦4.1 billion.

Addressing the Time Release Study (TRS), Compt. Nnadi assured stakeholders of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within Customs Operations, despite observed challenges, ensuring progress towards achieving the study’s objectives.
