Customs Hand Over Officer For Alleged Extortion of ₦500,000

Comptroller Dalha Wada Chedi of the Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’ in Kaduna has taken action against an officer accused of extorting ₦500,000 from a car buyer named Muhammad Dahiru Ahmad along the Mokwa-Jebba Road in Niger State.
The officer, deployed to the Mokwa Patrol Team, was officially handed over to the Assistant Provost Marshal (APM) Customs Police Unit in Kaduna for disciplinary measures on Monday, February 26, 2024.
According to Superintendent Isah Sulaiman, the Comptroller confirmed the involvement of the officer in question and emphasized the seriousness with which the matter is being addressed.
The Customs Police Unit has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation, with the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and his management team overseeing the process.
The Comptroller reiterated the Service’s commitment to maintaining discipline and transparency, assuring the public that the case will be handled with diligence and decisiveness.
The findings of the investigation will be forwarded to the Nigeria Customs Service Board for further action, as per protocol governing disciplinary matters within the Service.
