Don’t Heat Up Polity, Ondo Assembly Warns

By Precious Oluwole

The Ondo State House of Assembly has cautioned the people not to heat up the polity, saying governance is running smoothly in the State.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji made the remrks while speaking with Assembly correspondents on the outcome of their meeting with the National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abuja.

He said the house will maintain the status quo pending the Deputy Governor’s withdraw of court cases he filed against the Assembly.

“This would allow the stakeholders to freely discuss the settlement and prevent actions or comments over a matter that is still in court”.

According to him, every sector of the economy in the State has supervising Commissioners who in turn get directive from the Governor to run the affairs of their Ministries.

He called on the citizenry to allow peace to reign supreme, assuring that the Assembly would continue to exercise its function in line with the constitution.

Oladiji maintained that every move of the House on the impeachment process is in tandem with the rule of law and has never been biased.

“The House only acted on the notice received from the executive on the alleged gross misconduct and abuse of office by the Deputy Governor and all efforts to invite him to appear before the house for explanation proved abortive.

The Speaker who noted that the peace of the state is paramount to the 10th Assembly, also insisted that they have nothing to gain from impeaching the Deputy Governor.
