Gov Aiyedatiwa inspects Akure road projects, applauds quality of work done

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to roads and infrastructural development.
The Governor gave this assurance during an inspection to the on going road rehabilitation within the Akure metropolis, to to further encourage the contractor to speed up their works.

He noted that this is just the fulfillment of one of his promises made to the people in the entire local government, the three senatorial districts of the state.
“Today, I’m here at the central senatorial district, about 20 kilometers in total, but today I’m at Owe Akala Junction in Akure South local government, part of our sustainable infrastructural development, the existing road that has been here for many years, thepeople in this area have not enjoyed good road for over 16, 20 years. And this is a 2.3 kilometer road within Akure town, and it’s a major area in the urban center.

“The asphalt, the rehabilitation of this road and asphalt overlay is ongoing, about one kilometer has been laid, and the remaining 1.3 is ongoing I’m just here on the spot assessment to see what they are doing.
“Here in Akure, this is part of the 20 kilometers of rehabilitation of existing roads, and some new ones to add that will bring about connectivity that will ease movement of people within the senatorial district. Also in the northern senatorial district, about 20 kilometers, they are ongoing, we’ll visit the place in the course of the week to see the spirit of work in that area, work is going on in the southern senatorial district as well”.

Speaking at Iro/Odopetu road, the Governor said “this is also as part of our cardinal program of “Our Ease”, which is the U, which stands for Urban Renewal, and then the S for Sustainable Infrastructural Development. Put together, this is about 2 km, 1.8 km of Odopetu road within Akure metropolis, the urban area, the rehabilitation of this road.
“This road also connects to other roads like Eco bank Junction, and it’s one of the roads that will ease the movement of people within Akure metropolis. This road has been abandoned for many years, but we are fulfilling one of our promises to our people of urban renewal and infrastructure sustainability and development. So this is part of it, and I’m happy that the work is going on very well.
“About 1.5 km has been completed, remaining just about 300 m, which the contractor has promised to complete within a number of days.
Also at Oda road, the Governor stated that much work has been done, adding that he has been assured by the contractor and the Special Adviser on Infrastructure that in the next 6 to 8 weeks, the 7.8 km road will be completed for commission.
Also, during a visit to the Onyearugbulem Bridge, the Governor noted that it is currently 70% complete. He urged the contractors to expedite the work so that it can be commissioned within the next two months. “This project was initiated by the former governor, and we are fully committed to ensuring its completion”, he said.
At Ijoka, he appreciated the people’s patience and endurance, he assured them of speedy completion, urging them to support the contractors, to further encourage the contractor to speed up their works.
The Governor commended the jobs done so far, describing it as high quality which will last for a number of decades.
Akure South Local Government Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Fasua said “We have seen a massive improvement in road infrastructure across Akure. Many of these roads were in terrible condition for years, making life difficult for residents. But today, from Oda to Oke Aro and Odopetu, virtually every part of Akure is being touched. We are grateful to the governor for keeping his promise.”
The residents of each places visited came out in large numbers, hailing the Governor for fulfilling his campaign promises.
