Commends CGC Bashir Adewale for Transforming Customs
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Tincan Island Port Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, has pledged to build on the solid foundation established by his predecessor, Assistant Comptroller General Dera Nnadi.
Speaking over the weekend, Comptroller Onyeka expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for entrusting him with the position. He stated, “I will facilitate trade, but it must be legitimate trade. The CGC made no mistake in assigning me to Tincan, and I will not disappoint him.”
Addressing trade operations, Onyeka emphasized the importance of efficiency in the cargo clearance process. “Once an officer completes container examinations and confirms that all duties paid by the shipper are accurate and align with the contents of the container, the cargo will exit the port without delays,” he assured.
During a courtesy visit from the executive leadership of the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN), Comptroller Onyeka highlighted his commitment to aligning with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “I have engaged with all relevant units, and it is my prayer, by the grace of God, that we will all work together to ensure the President’s renewed hope agenda comes to fruition. I am also guided by the CGC’s policy focus on consolidation, collaboration, and innovation,” he said.
In response, MARAN President Godfrey Bivbere reaffirmed the association’s readiness to collaborate with the Tincan Command to achieve its objectives.
Comptroller Onyeka’s commitment to trade facilitation and innovation is expected to drive progress in customs operations at the Tincan Island Port, reinforcing the goals of the current administration and the Nigeria Customs Service.
