The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, CFR, has ordered total silence in the state capital as he begins his annual Ulefunta leave.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyeye Michael, the monarch announced a ban on drumming across Akure metropolis for the seven-day period, from September 15 to September 21.
The palace also directed that the road leading to the Deji’s Palace be closed to traffic, while markets and shops in the vicinity remain shut.
Residents were advised to comply with the directive but assured there was no cause for fear, as the monarch would be in seclusion to pray for peace and prosperity in the land.
The statement explained that the restrictions were long-standing traditions tied to Ulefunta observances.
“Akure a gbe a oo,” the palace concluded.
