Mammoth crowd at Akure stadium as dignitaries attend Akeredolu’s commendation service

It was a moment of emotion at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, as dignitaries from all walks of life attended late Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu’s commendation service, which was held in his honor on Wednesday.

Different presenters also paid their tributes in honor of the late Governor.

In his address, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed that Aketi’s life tells a riveting story of how sacrifice and heroism can help foster the course of history, adding that he took an uninsured risk in service of a greater goal for his people.

He noted that the people of the state would not forget his late predecessor’s industrialization efforts, infrastructure projects, intervention in education, health, and human capital development.

Reflecting on the significance of late Arakunrin Akeredolu’s legacy, Governor Aiyedatiwa said, “Indeed, there can be no doubt that what we are celebrating today is the life of a true patriot that was well spent. Though solemn but resounding, we are here in deference to a life of character, a life of conscience, and true service.”

Quoting the wisdom of philosophers and statesmen, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the enduring impact of Governor Akeredolu’s life and leadership on human civilization, stating, “From generation to generation, the true meaning of life well spent has always been about the impacts of man’s life on human civilization.”

Recalling Governor Akeredolu’s fearless advocacy for justice, fairness, and true federalism, Governor Aiyedatiwa praises his predecessor’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of the people, stating, “He, without fear, took an unusual sacrifice that many considered a suicide mission. He raised his voice high to the roof to speak truth to power.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa also acknowledged Governor Akeredolu’s transformative interventions in governance, including industrialization efforts, infrastructure projects, and social welfare programs, affirming, “We will never forget the life-changing interventions you used the power of government to bring to the people of Ondo State.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa paid homage to Governor Akeredolu’s enduring legacy and urged all present to honor his memory by continuing his legacy of selfless service and dedication to the common good.

He expressed heartfelt condolences to the Akeredolu family, the people of Ondo State, and all who mourned the loss of the esteemed leader.

In attendance were the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Adelami, Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, State Chairman, APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, and other top government functionaries.

Also in attendance from the Akeredolu family were Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, Prof. Oluwole Akeredolu, Ifeoma Akeredolu, Dr. Teniola Akeredolu, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Jr., and Pastor Kola Akeredolu.
