MARAN applauds Okaga’s appointment as Technical Adviser to Marine Minister

The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has commended the appointment of Dr. Charles Okaga as the Technical Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

In a statement, MARAN President, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, described Okaga’s appointment as a “square peg in a square hole,” emphasizing his extensive experience and contributions to the maritime sector.

Reflecting on Okaga’s tenure as the General Manager of Operations at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Bivbere highlighted his significant impact on the maritime and export sub-sectors. He noted that Okaga introduced innovative strategies in port management, leading to improved cargo operations and overall efficiency in the industry.

Bivbere expressed confidence that Okaga, in his new role, would provide expert guidance on policies and strategic initiatives to maximize Nigeria’s maritime potential. He believes this appointment will strengthen the country’s position in the global maritime industry.
